New iPod and Tale of the Lost Log

Soooo...I hope everyone in blog land had a Merry Christmas.  Mine wasn't bad.  I got an new iPod Touch which was totally exciting.  I had one before, but it was not big enough to hold all my music and all my apps I use for weight loss and running.  Wondering what those are???  I use Weight Tracker which holds tons of stats including weight, running time, miles, waist measurements, and tons of other stuff.  This is one of my favorite apps because it also shows your progress as you set goals.  The other one I use regularly is the Couch to 10k app.  I started this one after I graduated from the Couch to 5k app for the second time.  Like the Couch to 5k app, it alternates between walking and running.  It is a pretty cool tool to help you gradually run further.

Anyway so I got this new iPod...super exciting huh???  Yeah, but there is one problem...I gave my old one to my fourteen year old daughter.  No, that isn't the problem...the problem is that I told her she could go ahead and restore the factory settings.  This, of course, deletes everything on the iPod...including all my stats in Weight Tracker.  Basically, I lost my running log.  No big deal, right??  Big deal to me.  I have been really upset about it.  I was looking forward to seeing how many miles I have gone since I started running in March of this year.  I was going to set my mileage goal for 2012 based on that.  Bummed....that is all I can say.

I still have goals for 2012.  To run at least six 10k races, lose those last 17 pounds, and now to keep a running log in two places instead of just on my iPod.  Lesson learned....but I am sure there are many more for me right around the corner.  I hope everyone has a great and healthy 2012.  Chubby girl...out!

Death of a treadmill and other tragedies

So, I am very sad to announce the death of my treadmill earlier this week.  After several attempts to revive her,  she took her last turn.  She was a really good treadmill, sometimes neglected, sometimes misused.  I still remember when I bought her...on sale...at Walmart.

Ok enough of that.  I have to say though that a treadmill is a must have if you live anywhere with really cold winters....hello Idaho.  The weather has been kind though and I did a run outside yesterday.  It was actually pretty nice.

In other news, I am already having race withdrawals.  I have already been on the Teton Running website to look over the runs I would like to do next year. All 10k...all the way.  Not only that, but as the year comes to an end I looked back.  It has been eight months since I started running consistently.  I have lost 29 pounds and have become much more confident.  I have been averaging about 40 miles a month.  This year I will actually be able to say that I accomplished a New Year's resolution.  I am ready to begin making some for 2012....coming soon!
